You should know about the updated Chrome OS interface

Are you already used to the renewed Chrome? Then the next big change is ready: the Chrome OS interface gets a big update. You should know this.

Chrome OS interface gets redesign

With Chrome 69, Google's browser has been given a new design on every device. With Chrome 70, the Chrome OS interface also looks different. Users who run the beta version of the operating system already have this redesign.
The beta version of Chrome OS is slightly less stable, but gives you the opportunity to use new features and design adjustments early on. To install the beta version of Chrome OS yourself, go to the settings of your Chromebook and search for 'About Chrome OS' and choose 'Change channel' under 'Detailed build data'.

The Chrome apps that you have installed and are often used are now larger in the bar at the bottom of the screen: the shelf. This design is a bit like Apple's operating system macOS. If you click on the menu button, you will be taken to the new dock where all apps can be found. The shelf has also been rounded with Chrome 70, so that the design fits better with the new web browser.

New quick settings

If you click all the way to the right of the shelf, you will see the updated menu for quick settings. There are two versions: a large and small one. Click on the arrow to switch between the two. For this design is clearly on Android. If you change the volume or screen brightness of your device, you will also see this design in the small bar that appears.

Linux on Chrome OS

The design is not the only thing that changes for Chrome OS users. The operating system now also supports Linux . Unfortunately at the moment only on a handful of Chromebooks.
