Google Launches March 2018 Update for Android Devices!
Google has released the March 2018 update package for system software and OTA updates. The Pakette also features functional Pixel enhancements.
Beginning a new month means updating for Nexus and Pixel. Google has released both system images and OTA updates. So you can get new update without waiting. The new update package also includes functional updates for Pixel devices.
By flashing the phone, you can update from the image file or update directly from OTA. The first option is to have an explicit bootloader, and at the end of the process your device will be reset. The second option, OTA (over the air), is updated only if you do not deal with the bootloader and touch your data.
With the exception of Pixel C, all devices will now have Android 8.1 Oreo. For all Pixel devices, this month only software with OPM1.171019.021 is available. This indicates that there will not be any external software changed by the operator. However, the Nexus 6P and 5X have a few variations this month. Descriptions of security updates live next to update files. You can see what security vulnerabilities have been fixed, and Pixel-specific statements list improvements for Google's hardware. In particular, there are functional updates for Pixel.
Update Highlights
- Improve on-screen response when opening with fingerprint (Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL)
- Increased sound quality in video recording (Pixel 2 XL)
- Improve crash reports (Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL)
