Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Plus - what do we know about them?
Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Plus are fast approaching. It is true that we will not see them at MWC 2018 in Barcelona, and a month later. Which does not change the fact that the producer had a problem with keeping the new flagships in secret. We already know a lot about them. This week, we finally saw their design.
Huawei P20 and P20 Plus are the upcoming Chinese flagships, which are certainly worth waiting for. Telephones are the object of more and more leaks. Many of them have come this week, so it's time to sum up the rumors.
Is this iPhone X in front?
Huawei P20 and model with the addition of Plus in the name will get screens that have a characteristic indent in the upper part. We could see it on Onleaks renderings . The first association is the iPhone X, right? Apparently, but let's remember that Apple has not invented the upper indent and there will be more and more such phones. Not looking far, the ASUS ZenFone 5 will also get this display . Let's take a look at how Huawei will look exactly.
Huawei P20 will get a screen with a diagonal of about 5.7 "(about 6" in Plus), which, however, will not cover as much of the front panel as it is in the iPhone X. The bottom will be a thicker beam and we know that in a smaller model under the screen there is a fingerprint reader. No longer. The corners are rounded, and in the upper indent there is room for two lenses and a loudspeaker.
Huawei P20 and P20 Plus will get a screen with Full HD + resolution. The exact value is not known, however, because various information appeared on this subject. However, taking into account the fact that the aspect ratio is probably higher than 18: 9, it probably will be more than 1080 x 2160 pixels. Panels will be provided by Samsung Display and we know that these are LCD screens, not OLEDs.
On board five lenses
The Huawei P20 will be the first smartphone to debut with five lenses. Yes, the back camera has three lenses and we have also seen them in Onleaks renderings. Two of them are on the hump, and there is one more below. Apparently, the camera will allow you to take pictures in the quality of 40 MP . It is not known, however, how exactly it should work.
Huawei P20 above the screen has a dual webcam for video calls and selfie. This is to ensure the possibility of taking photos in the quality of 24 MP, which will also raise the bar's competition. Everything should be clarified at the official conference. The producer probably will take some time to discuss the possibilities of new cameras.
A larger model can get a fingerprint reader on the screen or not at all
The Huawei P20 Plus, the larger of the upcoming flagships, does not have a fingerprint reader under the screen. Not only that, because he is not on his back. What can this mean? Well, Onleaks sometimes forgets to add some elements while creating your own render, as you can see below. In this case, however, he did not improve on any tweet. It is possible that the reader will be on the screen. Then it would be a solution similar to the one that has Vivo X20 Plus UD .

There is one more option. Huawei P20 Plus may not have a fingerprint reader at all. It is difficult to say, however, whether the Chinese have managed to develop a solution that will be able to compete with Face ID and provide a similar level of security. Under the hood, the Kirin 970 processor
The Huawei P20 will get a Kirin 970 HiSilicon processor , which has already been included in the Mate 10 models. It is a SoC system consisting of eight cores and a Mali G72 graphics chip. It is true that in terms of performance, the processor will not be as fast as Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 9810 from Galaxy S9, but it will still provide high power. In addition, it has a built-in coprocessor, which is responsible for certain tasks based on SI. The system will be supported by 6 GB RAM memory type LPDDR4.
Android 8.1 with the new EMUI 8.1 cover
Huawei P20 and the variant with the note Plus in the name will get the current Android 8.1 system Oreo, which Google released in December. The updated EMUI 8.1 overlay will also appear . Unfortunately, for now we do not know what will be new to it in relation to EMUI 8.0 from Mate 10. We will see it over time.
The premiere at the end of March in Paris
Huawei will boast of smartphones from the P20 line during the event, which will take place on March 27 in Paris . Prices are not known yet. However, let's expect that they can be a tad higher than Mate 10 Pro prices. The improvements that will be introduced will probably be paid for by the so-called novel tax.
