Chrome OS now also supports Linux: you have this as a user

A Chrome OS update to version 69 is now available for Chromebook users. This introduces, among other things, support for Linux applications for the cheap laptops.

Chrome OS Linux support available

Linux programs are currently only supported on a handful of Chromebooks, including the Acer Chromebook 11 and Lenovo ThinkPad 11e. The current Google Pixelbook also supports the applications. It is expected that future Chromebooks with more powerful hardware will also support Linux apps.
The feature is especially interesting for Linux and Android programmers. Android apps are also built in Linux, and can now be developed and improved on a Chrome OS . Even if you are not a programmer, there are advantages. There are many thousands of popular applications and games available for Linux that work with Chrome OS 69 on your Chromebook.

New design for Chrome

Google recently introduced a new design for the Chrome browser , which with Chrome OS 69 is also implemented in the operating system. Apps look a bit tidier, and right angles are made a bit softer and rounder.
There are also some new features: some search results are now shown directly in the search bar. If you look at the weather, a football result or translations, you do not even have to press 'enter' to get an answer to your question.

Chrome OS: also for Linux, Android and Windows

Originally, Chrome OS only ran apps that were developed specifically for the operating system, but Google has done a lot in recent months to broaden the offer. For example, most Chromebooks now have access to the Play Store, and they can run almost all Android apps.

Google would even work on dual boot support, so you can install Chrome OS and Windows 10 on a laptop at the same time. That feature has not yet been announced, but there are several references in the Chrome OS source code. We may hear more about this during the 'Made by Google' event on 11 October. The company is expected to present a new Pixelbook, a powerful laptop with Chrome OS.
